  • Ruben Amorim confirms Sesco’s knee injury
  • Manchester United are facing some injury problems

Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur may have brought a glimmer of hope with Matthijs de Ligt’s last-minute equalizer, but it also raised serious concerns for head coach Ruben Amorim.

What is your biggest concern? Benjamin Sesco, who was signed in the summer for £74m, left the game midway through the game with a knee problem, raising concerns that he could be out for a long time.

Sesco came on as a second-half substitute in the 58th minute in north London, but was sent off in the 88th minute after taking a knee from a loose challenge from Micky van de Ven.

United had already used up all of their substitutes and were forced to finish the game with 10 players remaining.
Although the striker hasn’t had his best season so far, he is still someone Man United rely on to score goals and provide the focal point of their attack.

Ruben Amorim confirms Sesco’s knee injury

In the post-match press conference, Amorim was more outspoken in expressing his concerns than the rest of the team, admitting that initial tests suggested there was “something in my knee.”

“I have to check… there’s something in his lap. Let’s take a look.” The Portuguese tactician said:

He added:

“It’s a knee. We’ll never know… we don’t know (how serious it is).”

The Standard newspaper, citing sources in Slovenia, said that tests to date have come back with “encouraging” results, but that United remain cautious as final diagnostic results are not yet available.

The timing couldn’t have been worse for Sesco, who joined from RB Leipzig with high expectations as the spearhead of United’s attack.

The 21-year-old has struggled to make much of an impact so far this season, scoring just two goals in 11 appearances.

United are currently facing injury concerns in key positions, with Harry Maguire and Casemiro also coming off injured against Spurs.

The game against Tottenham was tense, with the draw leaving United eighth in the Premier League as they continue to search for consistency.

Amorim’s cautiousness suggests the club is already thinking ahead. A serious injury could force United to find cover in the January transfer window or rethink their attacking strategy.
