  • Barcelona eyeing opportunity to sign Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenbirch
    • Liverpool could use the next Gini Wijnaldum in midfield

Liverpool manager Arn Slott may need to plan for the future without Ryan Gravenbirch as he continues to build what he hopes will be a long-term dynasty at Anfield.

The Reds are hoping to challenge for the Premier League title again. Arsenal’s last-minute collapse against Sunderland on Saturday helped in no small part and will give them renewed optimism on that front heading into the upcoming international break.

Whatever happens as the season takes shape, Liverpool know that their presence near the top of the table can cause anxiety for opponents, even if a mixed start to the season leaves supporters expecting more from the team.

Florian Wirtz hasn’t been able to fully fire up at Anfield, and question marks remain over the form of Jeremy Frimpong and Alexander Isak. Despite this, one person that Slott has trusted throughout his tenure is Ryan Gravenbirch.

The Dutch international got on the scoresheet with a strong performance against Aston Villa last weekend and followed that up with a superb engine room performance as the Reds beat Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Gravenbirch, who is enjoying life in midfield, has been in great form since returning from an ankle injury sustained against Manchester United. Fundamentally, his availability was crucial to Liverpool’s title bid and he is now one of the established names on the slot team sheet.

Either way, the Reds are constantly playing against the elite teams in world football and have seen themselves undaunted by the prospect of rival powerhouses trying to steal players from right under their noses.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is a key example of that practice. However, recent developments in Spain could mean they face their own battle to keep Grabenberch.

Barcelona eyeing opportunity to sign Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenbirch

Barcelona want to take advantage of Ryan Grafenbirch’s situation at Liverpool to maintain confidence that they could sign the Dutch international next summer, according to reports in Spain.

Interestingly, the former Ajax player cherishes the chance to realize his career dreams by signing with a top-level team like the La Liga giants, but La Blaugrana will need to balance their finances before making a formal approach.

Although the newspaper did not reveal the exact price, recent performances and role in last season’s Premier League victory have seen Liverpool’s star midfielder’s valuation soar, making Gravenbelch a difficult player for any elite team to sign.

Liverpool could use the next Gini Wijnaldum in midfield

As with any potential move, marketing the proposed project in Catalonia is key to starting the move. In contrast, the Reds hope the club’s upward trajectory will persuade the 23-year-old to stay on Merseyside.
