Butterfield Bermuda Championship DFS picks 2025: We love this big man this week

The Butterfield Bermuda Championship is a relatively new addition to Fall Swing, which was first held in October 2019. Port Royal Golf Club was designed by Robert Trent Jones in 1970 and has been the host course for all six of this event. Although the Jones Design is one of the shortest courses on the PGA Tour, its proximity to the coast and variable wind conditions still make it quite challenging to play. Early weather forecasts show significant winds and scoring conditions will be tougher than in years past, but elite wedge play and putting will still be the name of the game.

This week will be headlined by Rico Hoey, Kevin Yu, Thorbjorn Olesen, Nico Echavarria and more. It’s not the most impressive field in the fall, but it’s generally a tournament won by unknowns. Five of the six years of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship have had winners starting at 60-1 or better on the odds board. I’m not afraid to drastically change the way we think about this DFS.

Here are some of my favorite plays and plays I’m keeping an eye on as we head into the 2025 Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

$9,000+ Range Play: Pierceson Coody, $9,600:

Pierceson Coody is playing great golf right now. Despite finishing 31st at the Worldwide Technology Championship, Coody was ranked fifth in driving accuracy and fifth in green percentage. Coody also finished 12th in this competition last year.

Fade: Jesper Svensson, $9,200:

I was surprised to see this price attached to Jesper Svensson, who will be competing in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship for the first time. In his last start at the World Wide Technology Championship, Svensson missed the cut by 13 strokes, but is still regarded as one of the best players in the field.

$8,000 range Play: Matt Kuchar, $8,600:

If I were building a course for Matt Kuchar, it would look a lot like Port Royal. Kuchar’s past success on short, windy coastal courses like Pebble Beach and Waialae should bode strongly for Port Royal. Kuchar has finished in the top 20 three times in a row this fall.

Fade: Luke Clanton, $8,300:

I still love Luke Clanton’s potential, but he just doesn’t play enough golf to warrant this price tag. Clanton finished 46th at the World Technology Championships, but he’s not even in the top 50 in green regulation percentage, and his approach play has been inconsistent in recent months.

$7,000 range Play: Beau Hossler, $7,800:

Bo Hossler had a strong 17th place finish at the Worldwide Technology Championship, finishing 10th in regulation percentage on the greens and already has two top-30 finishes in three starts at Port Royal. Hossler is also one of the best Bermuda putters in the field for a long time.

Fade: Ricky Castillo, $7,800:

Ricky Castillo has struggled to find consistency on the PGA Tour this year, having dropped out of the MC three times in a row. His biggest skill, power off the tee, is also significantly less valuable on this golf course.

Flyer: Andrew Putnam, $7,100:

Andrew Putnam is a great fit for this golf course, and his lack of skill off the tee will certainly be alleviated in exchange for his short iron approach play and putting, which is what Putnam specializes in. Putnam also excels at my favorite comparison courses, including Waialae, Pebble Beach, and TPC Summerlin.

$6,000 range Played by: Paul Peterson, $6,500:

Paul Peterson is one of my favorite plays in the $6,000 range because of his approach and turnaround on the flat stick. Peterson ranks in the top 15 in the field in proxes and Bermuda putting from 100 to 150 yards, and most recently improved his approach by nearly seven strokes at the Black Desert Championship.
