Terry Bradshaw’s Horse Triumphs; Eyes Set on Breeders’ Cup Glory

On Saturday at Churchill Downs, Terry Bradshaw, the four-time Super Bowl winner and Fox NFL Sunday analyst, celebrated another victory—this time in horse racing. His 2-year-old filly, Take by the Wind, which he co-owns, secured the $251,250 Pocahontas Stakes, earning 10 qualifying points toward next year’s $1.5 million Kentucky Oaks and positioning herself as a contender for the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies on October 31 at Del Mar.

Originally purchased for $20,000, the filly has an undefeated record of 2-0 and took home $136,710 for her Grade 3 victory. Bradshaw, now 77, praised the horse’s condition and highlighted her training team, Ken McPeek and Graham Leveston of Magdalena Racing.

Bradshaw previously owned Mission Impossible, a horse that earned over $1.2 million in its career, despite finishing ninth in the 2010 Kentucky Derby. Expressing his passion for breeding, the Pro Football Hall of Famer shared his preference for investing in mares over stallions, citing better long-term value since a quality mare can continue producing offspring even if she doesn’t achieve top race wins.

Fan Take: This win not only underscores Terry Bradshaw’s growing influence in horse racing but also shines a spotlight on the potential for crossover stars to energize the sport. For horse racing fans, it signals promising talent and investment that could elevate the profile and excitement of upcoming major races.
