Canadians Crave Ice-Cold Forwards to Ignite the Game

During the 2025 NHL offseason, the Montreal Canadiens traded defenseman Logan Mailloux to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Zach Bolduc. Bolduc had a breakout season with the Blues in 2024-25, achieving personal bests of 19 goals, 17 assists, and 36 points over 72 games.

Bolduc got off to a strong start with the Canadiens, scoring three goals and totaling four points in his first three games. However, his production declined sharply afterward, with just one goal and two assists over the next 17 games, including a stretch where he missed nine straight games from October 28 to November 17.

In the Canadiens’ recent matchup against the Washington Capitals on November 20, Bolduc assisted on Nick Suzuki’s second-period goal, snapping the Capitals’ scoreless streak. The team is now hoping Bolduc can build momentum and help boost their offensive output.

If Bolduc can recapture his early-season spark, it would provide a significant lift to a Canadiens squad currently plagued by injuries. Fans will be eager to see if he can regain his form and contribute meaningfully moving forward.

Fan Take: This trade and Bolduc’s potential resurgence could be a turning point for the Canadiens amid their injury challenges, injecting fresh energy into the team. For hockey fans, it’s exciting to watch a promising player adapt and possibly elevate the game’s competitive spirit.
