  • Manchester United ‘first’ to sign Mokio
        • Antoine Semenyo chooses between Manchester United and Liverpool
    • Wildcard Casemiro replacement: Manchester United star ‘could be a world-class DM’

Manchester United are currently in pole position to complete the deal for Ajax youngster Jorgy Mokio as they look for long-term replacements for the aging Casemiro and the exiled Koby Mainu.

Casemiro and Mainu’s departures are currently a hot topic at Old Trafford, with the Brazilian’s current contract expiring at the end of this season, at which point he will be 34 years old.

To be fair, the Real Madrid legend has been in form this season, but Fabrizio Romano has insisted that a new contract is unlikely, especially given his current salary of £350,000, which makes him United’s most expensive player.

“Casemiro is working hard and is becoming an important player for the manager again in his career. So at the moment he is really important to Ruben Amorim, but at the moment his contract value, his salary figures are too high for Manchester United to extend it, so there will be contract talks.”

“Or they can find a contractual solution, which is the problem with Casemiro and Harry Maguire, or the player could leave for free.

It seems increasingly likely that a replacement for Casemiro will need to be found next summer, especially since manager Ruben Amorim does not seem to want Mainu’s role.

Manchester United ‘first’ to sign Mokio

According to Caught offsideMarc Bulls and Manchester United are the frontrunners to sign Mokio from Ajax, with the 17-year-old considered to be an incredible talent in the heart of midfield.

“Manchester United are leading the charge to sign Jorgy Mokio. They are already working on a project that could provide Mokio with guaranteed minutes and a clear path to development.”

Mokio is a huge talent with a lot of potential for the coming years and has recently proven to be the latest great youngster to come out of Ajax’s famous academy, and should be the kind of profile United are looking for.

The defensive midfielder has already made 29 appearances for the Eredivisie giants, highlighting his maturity at such a young age, with scout Jacek Kulig describing him as a “special” player.

Mokio has also been capped once by Belgium at the top level and will be hoping to see his star rise further at next summer’s World Cup, but United will want to be the first to sign him before competition for him intensifies further.
