Lando Norris acknowledged that he had a poor start at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The McLaren racer finished second behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, bringing him closer to securing his first world championship. Norris made an aggressive move to overtake Verstappen and held the lead into the first corner but misjudged his braking, allowing Verstappen and Mercedes’ George Russell to pass him.

Verstappen dominated the race, winning by a 20-second margin, with Norris finishing second. Norris joked, “I let Max win,” admitting it was his mistake for braking too late. He recognized that while his performance wasn’t his best, Verstappen was simply faster and deserved the win. Despite the setback, Norris enjoyed the challenging race.

He added that his pace was strong and praised Verstappen’s performance, calling the race tough but fun. Norris admitted that his aggressive start at Turn 1 cost him, but he was still pleased with second place and the valuable points gained. He congratulated Verstappen and Red Bull on their strong showing and looked forward to building on this result in future races.

With this finish, Norris extended his lead in the championship by 30 points over his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, who placed fourth. Heading into the last two races, Norris is in a commanding position to win the title, needing only to outscore Piastri or maintain a points gap over Verstappen to clinch the championship in Qatar. While Piastri faced a tough race in Las Vegas, Norris has both momentum and a solid points advantage.

Fan Take: This result is huge for racing fans as it marks a potential shift in the championship guard, with Norris emerging as a serious title contender. If he secures the championship, it could signal the rise of a new superstar, bringing fresh excitement and competition to the sport.
