The Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium Set to Shine as Host for the 2027 NHL Stadium Series

In 2027, hockey is set to take center stage at AT&T Stadium, also known as Jerry World. The NHL announced on Monday that the Dallas Stars will host a Stadium Series game there on February 20, 2027, with the opposing team to be revealed later. The game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. ET. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman highlighted that since the stadium’s opening in 2009, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been a strong supporter of outdoor hockey games at this venue. Bettman expressed excitement about bringing the NHL Stadium Series to such a magnificent sports facility and praised the collaboration with the Cowboys and Stars, emphasizing the strong hockey fanbase in North Texas, which warmly welcomed the NHL during the 2020 Winter Classic at the Cotton Bowl.

Jerry Jones also shared his enthusiasm, noting that hosting NHL outdoor games aligns perfectly with the broader vision for AT&T Stadium beyond football. He anticipates this event to be a proud moment and a chance to deliver an exceptional experience for fans and teams alike through the partnership with the NHL and the Dallas Stars.

While this will be the first hockey game at AT&T Stadium, the Dallas Stars have previous experience with outdoor games. They played and won 4-2 against the Nashville Predators in the 2020 NHL Winter Classic at the Cotton Bowl, an event that attracted 85,630 fans—the third-largest attendance for a single NHL game in history.

Fan Take: This announcement is thrilling for hockey enthusiasts as it marks the expansion of outdoor games into iconic venues like AT&T Stadium, amplifying the sport’s visibility and appeal. Hosting the Stadium Series in Dallas underscores hockey’s growing popularity in non-traditional markets, promising to bring fresh energy and fan engagement to the game.
