  • Fabrizio Romano talks about Liverpool’s interest in Semenho
  • Why Semenyo can improve Liverpool

Bournemouth sensation Antoine Semenyo is firmly on Liverpool’s shortlist for the January transfer window, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.

With the Reds currently languishing in 11th place in the Premier League, the club are reportedly considering a move for the in-form winger, with a release fee thought to be around £65 million.

Liverpool’s season has been in jeopardy recently following a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest, and head coach Arn Slott is desperate for reinforcements to salvage a campaign that is rapidly spiraling out of control.

Fabrizio Romano talks about Liverpool’s interest in Semenho

Romano provided a concrete update on Liverpool’s signing of the Ghanaian international on his YouTube channel. He revealed that Anfield bosses have a good understanding of the financial conditions required to bring Semenyo to Merseyside.

However, Romano warned that a deal is not yet imminent as Liverpool first need to finalize their January strategy after spending heavily in the summer.

He also warned of strong competition, naming Man United, Tottenham and Manchester City among the candidates interested in signing him.

Romano said:

“I have information about Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth and his name is definitely on Liverpool’s shortlist.

“Liverpool are considering signing Semenyo in the January transfer window. The Reds are well informed of the published £60m plus £5m.”

“Semenyo definitely remains a topic for Liverpool, he’s a player they’re looking at and a player they’re looking at.

“Now, what has to happen for a move to Liverpool to happen? Liverpool need to decide internally what they want to do in January. It’s like, well, we like this player so let’s go with it.”

“After spending so much money already in the summer, they need to decide from a technical and financial point of view what they want to do in the January transfer window.

“So this will definitely be decided in the coming weeks, but it looks like Liverpool are seriously considering signing Semeno.

“They are not the only club because I said Semenyo was on Manchester United’s list last summer. Last summer Semenyo was on Tottenham’s list. Manchester City are also chasing the player. So keep an eye on Manchester City as well. There is a lot of interest in Semenyo.”

“This is an opportunity on the market. A player who has done fantastically for Bournemouth. The price is high but it’s still worth it. So I’m sure Liverpool are very interested in pursuing the player.”

Despite strong interest from Arsenal and Man City, Liverpool are said to be favorites to sign him, with Bournemouth already in contact with Richard Hughes.

Why Semenyo can improve Liverpool

Liverpool’s attack has looked disjointed this season, scoring just 18 goals in 12 league games, a huge drop off from their usual standards.

Big-money summer signings Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz have struggled to adapt, while Mohamed Salah looks far from his usual best.

Semenyo’s raw physicality and ball-running ability will provide Arne Slott with a different attacking profile, one who can break through low blocks and create havoc in the final third.

His ability to play in a variety of positions means the Reds could use him on the right wing during Salah’s absence at AFCON.

Activating Semenyo’s release clause in January could be the decisive move that changes their fortunes, as the Reds face a crucial month in trying to save their season.
