West Ham United are currently conducting an investigation into the contract of Union Saint Giroise striker Promise David as questions remain over Niklas Furkruk’s future at the London Stadium.

West Ham have improved significantly in attack since the start of November, scoring eight goals in their last three Premier League games, with Callum Wilson finding the net three times in his last two games.

Most recently, the former Newcastle United man’s two first-half goals put the Hammers in a strong position to take three points against AFC Bournemouth, but it will no doubt be frustrating for the manager that the Cherries hit back and Nuno’s side were denied a two-goal lead.

That said, Wilson’s recent form in front of goal is undoubtedly encouraging, especially considering Niklas Flukrug’s future with the Irons is currently in big doubt, as Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg revealed earlier this month.

West Ham approach Promise David to sign contract

With Wilson’s current contract expiring this summer and the Englishman potentially reaching the end of his career at the age of 33, West Ham are currently in contact about signing a new striker – Union Saint Giroise star David.

This comes as Claret & Hugh reports that inquiries have been made about signing a centre-forward, with chief analyst Max Hahn saying they are particularly keen to sign a player from the Belgian professional league.

The 24-year-old has a contract with the Belgian club until 2030 and is in a good position in negotiations, but there are signs he may be worth paying whatever the Hammers demand.

The eight-time Canadian international has started the season well, having already scored eight goals in all competitions, including on his Champions League debut in a 3-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in September.

The Ontario-born centre-forward’s form in 2024-25 caught the attention of scout Jacek Kulig, who praised him as “outstanding” in March, before finishing the season with 24 goals in all competitions.

As Fullkrug looks to move on, bringing in a new striker in January would make sense, especially given that Wilson’s injury history is likely to remain a concern after spending extensive periods on the treatment table over the past two seasons.

It’s a gamble to sign David, a Canadian who has yet to prove himself in Europe’s major leagues, but his scoring record in Belgium is certainly encouraging.
