Marc VDS Moto2 introduced their new lineup with Aaron Kane and Deniz Onc at Monday’s test in Jerez, marking the duo’s first laps with the highly successful team. Just over a week after the 2025 season concluded, former Fantic rider Kane and ex-Red Bull Idiot rider Onc tested the team’s Bosco Scuro chassis for the first time.
Canet, who last raced the Bosco Scuro bike with Aspar in 2021, completed 56 laps with a best time of 1:40.588, close to Manuel González’s fastest race lap of 1:40.351 at the Spanish Grand Prix in April. Kane, formerly with Fantic, finished 8th.
“I’m really happy to begin a new chapter with the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team,” said Canet, who won his fifth Moto2 race this year in Qatar. “Today was about getting to know the team and the bike, and we worked well together. There’s a lot to improve, but I’m confident we can be one of the top teams in 2026.”
Meanwhile, fellow race winner Onc, who spent the last Moto2 season with Kalex, managed 66 laps with a best time of 1:40.808. This was his first time back on track since suffering severe leg injuries in a training accident in August. Reflecting on his comeback, Onc said, “Starting a new journey with Elf Marc VDS Racing Team feels amazing. The atmosphere and welcome were fantastic. It’s been a long time off due to injury, so this test was about rediscovering my feel for the bike. I’m pleased with how it went and can head into the winter break on a positive note.”
Testing at Jerez will continue through the week, leading up to the WorldSBK tests.
Fan Take: This news is exciting for racing enthusiasts because it highlights a fresh new era for the Marc VDS team, with promising talent and a resilient comeback story in Onc. Their progress could shake up the Moto2 field in 2026, making the season one to watch closely.
