Liverpool are hoping to turn things around after a disastrous start to the Premier League season.
After winning the league title last season, they went on to spend an all-time high in a single window. No one expected them to struggle so much. They currently sit 12th in the league table. This is simply unacceptable for a club of their stature and Liverpool are desperate to bounce back strongly.
Liverpool prepare transfer plans for January
Florian Plettenberg says Liverpool prepared a three-pronged transfer approach in January to deal with the crisis. They are looking to bring in quality wide players like Antoine Semenyo, reliable strikers and defenders like Marc Gehi.
It will be interesting to see if they can bring in all three players in the coming weeks. They have already invested in several quality strikers in the summer, spending around £200m on them. It remains to be seen whether they can accommodate another goalscorer in the side.
The red team needs quality additions.
Signing a wide player and a central defender certainly makes a lot of sense. They haven’t been able to fill the void left by Luis Diaz. The Bournemouth attacker could be the ideal signing for them. He is in good form and could make an immediate impact at Liverpool.
As for Guehi, he came very close to joining Liverpool in the summer, but that move fell through. Liverpool are struggling defensively and the 25-year-old England international could help improve the team. He could be an exceptional acquisition for them. He is well accustomed to English football and will be able to make an immediate impact.
There is no doubt that evenly matched players will bounce back, but it remains to be seen who they will ultimately face.
