Raja Jackson Denies Battery Allegations, Risks 7-Year Prison Sentence for Attack on Pro Wrestler

Raja Jackson, son of former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, has entered a plea of not guilty to battery charges but faces a potential prison sentence of up to seven years if found guilty. The 25-year-old pleaded not guilty in court on Thursday following charges that include felony and misdemeanor battery. The felony charge, stemming from allegedly causing serious bodily injury, could add three extra years to his sentence. He is slated for a preliminary hearing on November 24.

Jackson was arrested in September after an incident at a Knox Pro Wrestling event in Los Angeles in August, where he reportedly assaulted wrestler Stuart Smith, known as Psycho Stu. Although scheduled to intervene in a match, Jackson went off script and attacked Smith, slam-landing him into the ring and knocking him unconscious. He then delivered over 20 strikes to Smith’s head before being restrained by other wrestlers. The attack was livestreamed by Jackson himself. Smith required several days in intensive care and suffered injuries including a broken jaw, split lip, and chipped tooth.

Since the assault, “Rampage” Jackson has expressed mixed feelings—condemning his son’s actions while also hoping for Smith’s quick recovery. Despite his anger, he emphasized concern for Smith’s health and wellbeing.

Fan Take: This incident highlights the blurred lines and dangers when scripted entertainment crosses into real violence, raising serious concerns for fighter safety and professionalism in combat sports. For fans of fighting, it’s a reminder of the critical need for respect and control in the sport to protect all participants and preserve the integrity of competition.
