Star Center Norris Nears Comeback—Will He Finally Beat the Injury Bug?

The Buffalo Sabers have won four out of their last five games, finally climbing out of the Atlantic Division’s bottom spot. Rumors suggest more positive developments ahead, as veteran center Josh Norris, who has been sidelined since the season opener against Buffalo due to injury, is close to making a comeback. However, given Norris’ past struggles with injuries, there’s caution around trusting his long-term health. Norris himself acknowledges the difficulty of staying on the ice consistently, admitting recent setbacks have been personally frustrating.

Sabers fans share this frustration but remain hopeful about the club’s future. The trade that sent Dylan Cozens to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Norris is still under scrutiny. Cozens has performed well in Ottawa, tallying eight goals and 16 points in 22 games, leading many to view the trade as favoring Ottawa at this point.

Despite this, Buffalo would undeniably improve with Norris’ return, as their center depth has been challenged. General Manager Kevin Adams was not in a position to acquire an established top-tier center, making Norris’ role even more critical. Norris has only appeared in four games for Buffalo, and while the team has hopes he can be a key player, durability remains a serious concern.

The Sabers are eager for Norris to stay healthy and make a significant impact, which would justify the wait and strengthen their lineup. For now, the team is cautiously optimistic about what Norris’ return could bring.

Fan Take: This news is significant for hockey fans because Norris could be the catalyst Buffalo needs to improve its competitiveness and break its playoff drought. His health and performance will be closely watched, as it reflects the broader challenges teams face when relying on talented but injury-prone players to reignite their chances in a tough league.
