Adam Azim is set to return to the ring on January 31st in London, potentially facing a top 15 contender in the junior welterweight division, according to promoter Ben Shalom who spoke to ESPN. While no official agreement has been reached, Azim is close to securing his first televised fight on the BBC.

Azim, with a record of 14 wins and 1 loss including 11 knockouts, impressed recently by defeating American Kurt Scobie in a dominant display during the undercard of the Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn II event, winning every round and finishing the fight with a 12th-round stoppage. Trainer Shane McGuigan noted the challenge in finding opponents willing to take on the 23-year-old, given his versatile fighting style and strong performance.

Shalom confirmed Azim will headline a BBC Two event at the end of January, a significant milestone in his career. He praised Azim’s ability to captivate audiences beyond the UK and expressed belief that Azim is one of the most talented fighters in the country, poised to gain greater recognition over time.

Currently, Azim holds the 9th position in the WBC junior welterweight rankings and is ranked 10th by both the IBF and WBO.

Fan Take: This upcoming fight is a crucial moment for Adam Azim as he transitions from rising star to mainstream boxing celebrity. For fans, it promises exciting matchups and highlights the growing talent within the junior welterweight division, potentially reshaping the landscape of the sport.
