        • With Zirksee: Don’t start Manchester United’s ‘waste of time’ again for Amorim

Manchester United received an ‘insane’ offer for the player ahead of the January transfer window, and he has reportedly said yes to the move…

Manchester United could release ‘insane’ player in January

Just when Man United seemed to be turning a corner, a heavy defeat at Everton on Monday night saw the Toffees win 1-0, giving David Moyes his first win as visiting manager at Old Trafford.

Despite playing with 10 men for much of the night, the Red Devils were unable to get anything from the game, with Idrissa Gueye receiving a straight red card for punching teammate Michael Keane.

They have gone unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches, but as Ruben Amorim pointed out in his post-match interview, this defeat served as a reminder that the current team still have a long way to go to be able to compete for major honours.

There is therefore work to be done beyond the January transfer window, with AS Roma having to make a decision regarding the future of Joshua Zirkzee, offering the striker on loan with an option to buy.

This is according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), who say Zirksee has now said ‘yes’ to a move in January and is inching closer to joining Roma, but it is currently unclear whether United are willing to allow him to leave.

The Dutchman is valued at €40m (approximately £35m) and the Italian club intend to add a buy-back obligation if they qualify for the Champions League, although it has not been revealed how much they are willing to pay.

Manchester United should sign Zirksee this winter

The 24-year-old has been flattering and deceiving since arriving at Old Trafford, scoring just three goals in 37 Premier League appearances and his recent performance against Everton was unimpressive.

The Dutch international squandered one big chance and finished with a SofaScore match rating of just 6.3, the worst of all players except for Gueye, who was sent off after just 13 minutes.

With Zirksee: Don’t start Manchester United’s ‘waste of time’ again for Amorim

Ruben Amorim has made a bold decision that will change the future of Manchester United’s failure.

The £105,000-a-week forward, who has been hailed as “insane” by scout Ben Mattinson in the past, could find success elsewhere and could be in place until Benjamin Sesco returns from a knee injury.

However, Amorim should definitely move Zirksee in the January transfer window and bring in a new striker to rival Sesco in competition for the starting spot, with Man Utd recently reigniting their interest in Bayern Munich star Harry Kane.
