Cunha and Sesco Miss Out Again in United’s Clash with Palace

Ruben Amorim will likely be without Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesco, and Harry Maguire as Manchester United seeks to recover from their recent defeat to Everton when they face Crystal Palace. Cunha, who sustained a head injury during training, had to withdraw from the squad for the Everton match and will also miss the upcoming game at Selhurst Park, though he is expected to return for next week’s fixture against West Ham. Sesco and Maguire are predicted to be out for a longer period.

At a press conference on Friday, Amorim stated, “I anticipate using Matthäus in the next match, but not for this one,” and added that “Sesco will take a bit longer, as will Harry.” When asked about setbacks in Sesco’s recovery from his knee injury, Amorim clarified, “No setbacks; it will take time. We are managing the injury.”

As Manchester United travels to Palace, they have recorded only one away victory in the Premier League this season. Amorim’s team was close to achieving better results in previous away matches against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham, but they needed late goals to secure draws. Besides a 2-1 win against Liverpool at Anfield in October, United’s last league win away from Old Trafford was back in March against Leicester City.

“It’s hard to pinpoint a single reason for our struggles away,” Amorim noted. “We have much work ahead of us. I believe we should be earning more points based on our performances. We’ve had control in several games, had leads, but those advantages slipped away. It’s quite disappointing and frustrating, especially the last match against Everton.”

Fan Take: This news is significant for soccer fans as it highlights a struggling Manchester United squad grappling with injuries and inconsistencies. The outcome of their upcoming matches could determine not only their standings in the league but also shape the future strategies of clubs in the league, emphasizing the impact on the broader competitive landscape in English football.
