The race to sign Marc Guehi is heating up, with Atletico Madrid emerging as one of Europe’s top clubs vying to sign the Crystal Palace defender ahead of his expected free agent eligibility this summer.
Journalist Matteo Moretto told Radio Marca that the La Liga giants have joined an elite list of candidates that includes Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Liverpool and several other Premier League clubs.
Gehi, 25, has developed into one of the Premier League’s most consistent and composed centre-backs.
His performance not only earned him a permanent place in the England national team, but also made him one of the most popular defenders in Europe.

With his contract expiring and his availability as a free agent, he’s one of the most attractive defensive prospects on the market next summer.
Atletico Madrid see Gehi as the ideal candidate to strengthen their back line, which is in transition under manager Diego Simeone.
Simeone, who values defenders with leadership, composure and tactical awareness, reportedly believes Gehi is a perfect fit for Atletico’s disciplined and compact system.
Meanwhile, Calciomercato reports that Inter Milan are also monitoring Gehi, with the shortlist also including Tarik Muharemovic (Sassuolo), Oumar Sollet (Udinese) and Mario Gila (Lazio).
Inter’s pursuit could depend on a possible summer departure, especially if they sell one of the keystones of their current defense in order to rebalance their finances.
Bayern Munich are also interested in Guehi.
In Germany, Bayern Munich have long admired Gehi’s skill set, viewing him as a modern ball-handling centre-back who can fit seamlessly into their evolving defensive structure.
Similarly, Barcelona are looking to build a younger, more sustainable squad within financial constraints, but will continue to monitor the possibility of a free transfer.
Liverpool’s interest is also worth noting. With Virgil van Dijk entering the latter stages of his career and Ibrahima Konate’s contract situation still uncertain, the Reds see Gehi as a player who can anchor their defense for years to come.
