Marc Marquez emphasizes the significance of the talented Francesco Bagnaia for Ducati’s future in MotoGP. While Marquez himself is on track to win the 2025 championship, boasting a 78-point lead despite missing five races due to injury, Bagnaia has faced challenges adapting to the 2025 Desmosedici GP25 bike. Unlike the previous model, which helped him secure 11 Grand Prix wins in 2024, the new bike has not consistently suited him, as shown by his inconsistent performances, including a scoreless weekend around his Sprint GP victory in Japan.

Bagnaia’s sensitivity to changes in the bike is seen by Marquez as a valuable trait for Ducati’s ongoing bike development. Marquez told MotoGP.com that Bagnaia’s responsiveness and speed remain impressive, and he believes the upcoming winter break will be critical for Bagnaia to reset and come back stronger for the Malaysian test.

The 2025 season also revealed stronger competitors from other manufacturers, with Aprilia winning three of the last four races, KTM’s Pedro Acosta frequently reaching the podium, and Honda making significant progress by earning two podiums in Asia late in the season. Despite this, Marquez remains confident in Ducati’s prospects, crediting the team’s strength and the leadership of Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall’Igna, whose organizational skills and mentality provide a solid foundation for success.

Marquez expressed gratitude to Ducati and Dall’Igna for trusting him and providing the opportunity to showcase his talent. He highlighted Dall’Igna’s steady leadership style as invaluable, especially in handling the pressures and doubts riders face during a season, reinforcing that being part of Ducati-Lenovo means constantly fighting for the championship.

Fan Take: This news highlights the crucial role that Francesco Bagnaia plays not only as a rider but as an integral part of Ducati’s development process, which could shape the future of MotoGP competition. Marquez’s confidence in Ducati and his teammate suggests strong internal dynamics that may lead to exciting on-track battles and innovations in the coming seasons, keeping fans eagerly engaged.
