  • Bruno Fernandes was the driving force behind Man United’s victory
  • Amorim needs more consistency from his team

Journalist Samuel Luckhurst has praised Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes’ performance against Crystal Palace.

Man United came back from a goal down to win 2-1 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Ruben Amorim was hoping for a reaction from his team after Monday’s defeat against 10-man Everton at Old Trafford, and that’s exactly what he got.

The Red Devils were given a point back in the first half when Jean-Philippe Mateta converted a penalty, but the Premier League giants scored twice in the second half to ensure United were back on the road to victory.

Amorim’s side are desperate for a win after recent draws against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham, as well as a defeat against Everton, and showed their mettle and determination to break out of the slump in a difficult away game against Palace.

Bruno Fernandes was the driving force behind Man United’s victory

Goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount, two players who joined the Red Devils with high expectations but never truly lived up to the demands of being a Man United player, changed the trajectory of the game. Both goals were assisted by Fernandes.

Luckhurst posted on X today how important Fernandes is to Amorim’s team.

“Fernandes today was (again) the epitome of a legitimate United player: abusive, (but constructively) guiding his teammates in the right direction, playing at an intense level and contributing to both goals.”

Manchester United needed Fernandes to perform. Another loss would have meant they would have fallen to the bottom of the Premier League, but a decisive victory lifted them to 6th place in the league.

They are still far from their goal, but they are still making progress under Amorim.

All they need now is to find consistency and ensure they continue to deliver positive results heading into the upcoming Christmas period.

Despite the struggles and challenges this season, they still have a chance of finishing in the top four in the Premier League, which would be a big step up for Amorim and his team after finishing 15th last season.
