  • John Terry looks forward to Saka vs Cucurella
  • Terry praised the Spanish full-back

Chelsea legend John Terry has revealed his thoughts ahead of Sunday’s much-anticipated Premier League clash between Chelsea and Arsenal, hinting at his former club that life will be difficult for the league leaders.

Terry believes Bukayo Saka will not enjoy an individual battle with Marc Cucurella. He describes him as one of Chelsea’s most combative but underrated players this season.

Arsenal head to Stamford Bridge six points clear of their London rivals, with both teams in great form following their Champions League wins earlier this week.

It promises to be a statement game for both clubs, a new chance for Arsenal to solidify their title challenge and a chance for Chelsea to prove they are once again part of the Premier League’s elite under manager Enzo Maresca.

Terry emphasized the importance of the individual duels that shaped the contest.

As reported by Metro, he said on his TikTok page:

“There is a huge battle going on in the middle of the park.

“Moises Caicedo vs. Declan Rice, two top-class midfielders who have had great performances for both clubs. Week in and week out, they’ve been putting in performances that earn them man of the match honors, which will mean a lot to those who want to control the game.”

But Terry focused specifically on the right side, where Saka will play against Cucurella.
The Arsenal winger has been in great form this season, contributing heavily to the Gunners’ goalscoring tally, but Terry believes the Spaniard’s relentless aggression and energy could make him uneasy.

“It’s Saka versus Cucurella, it’s always a good fight.” he said.

“I don’t know if Saka likes the aggression that Cucurella brings, but every Chelsea fan loves it so I hope he shows the same aggression on Sunday.”

Terry also praised Chelsea’s defensive improvements, noting how Cucurella impressed recently when he neutralized teenage sensation Lamine Yamal and during the club’s Champions League win over Barcelona.

“Cucurella’s performance showed how far he has come. He plays with confidence and discipline and is not afraid to play against world-class wingers.” Terry added.

With Arsenal’s title ambitions and Chelsea’s resurgence both at stake, Sunday’s clash is sure to be one of the defining moments of the Premier League season and, as Terry insists, it may all come down to who wins a small battle in a larger war.

A win for the Gunners would make them clear favourites, but a win for Chelsea would open up the title race and give other teams hope of catching up with Mikel Arteta’s side.
