  • Harvey Barnes welcomes interest from Chelsea and Man United
  • Jose Mourinho gives glowing verdict on Barnes

Chelsea have made an offer to sign Newcastle’s exciting winger Harvey Barnes.

This comes from the latest news from Spanish outlet Fichajes, which claims the Blues are set to take on Manchester United over the deal to sign the Newcastle star.

According to reports, both Chelsea and Man United have made offers worth £53 million for the attacker.

Chelsea believe Barnes is the perfect long-term signing for a team full of exciting young players.

Despite significant initial offers from two Premier League clubs, the Magpies reportedly have no intention of selling Barnes unless they are presented with a more attractive offer that would be difficult to refuse.

The report goes on to add that both Manchester United and Chelsea are prepared to increase their offers if Newcastle reject their current bid.

They think the player is a perfect fit for their style of play and don’t want to miss out on the opportunity.

Harvey Barnes welcomes interest from Chelsea and Man United

The paper goes on to add that although the player himself is focused on Newcastle, he welcomes interest from these big clubs.

The player believes it makes sense from a sporting perspective to remain at Newcastle at the moment, but a move to a club like Chelsea or Man United could be a big leap in his career.

The final decision could depend on Newcastle’s firmness and how much they are willing to increase their offers to Manchester United and Chelsea, a scenario that promises to intensify in the coming days.

Jose Mourinho gives glowing verdict on Barnes

Barnes’ performances this season have even been praised by former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho himself.

The Portuguese coach, who currently manages Benfica, appears to be a fan of the player, calling him a “luxury man” during Newcastle’s 3-0 win over his side in October.

Barnes came off the bench and immediately scored two goals, helping his side defeat Mourinho’s Benfica convincingly.

After the match, Mourinho praised Barnes’ quality, calling him “luxurious”. “It’s a luxury, an absolute luxury, to have Barnes on the bench. And they kill us with their transition, their speed, their intensity…We just couldn’t handle it.”
