Kayla Harrison Voices Concerns Over Potential Roadblocks to UFC 324 Title Bout with Amanda Nunes

Kayla Harrison faces a major concern as she prepares for her first title defense at UFC 324. UFC president Dana White recently revealed the official fight card after a long period of uncertainty. The main event will feature Justin Gaethje versus Paddy Pimblett for the interim lightweight title, while Harrison is set to defend her bantamweight belt against Amanda Nunes in the co-main event.

Amanda Nunes has not fought since her retirement bout against Irene Aldana in 2023, but she showed immediate interest in returning after Harrison’s UFC debut in 2024. During her UFC career, Nunes competed in both bantamweight and featherweight divisions, holding titles in both. However, toward the end of her career, she preferred fighting at 145 pounds due to difficulties making the 135-pound limit.

Harrison expressed concern about Nunes making weight for their upcoming fight, aware of Nunes’ past struggles with weight and fight withdrawals. “I can’t believe she weighs 135 pounds. I’m not worried, but I definitely thought about it,” Harrison said on The Ariel Helwani Show. Harrison is preparing herself mentally and physically for any complications that could arise.

Throughout her UFC tenure, Nunes has pulled out of five fights, including a notable last-minute withdrawal from a title fight against Valentina Shevchenko. The upcoming match between Harrison and Nunes is being hailed as one of the greatest women’s fights ever, considering their outstanding careers.

Looking ahead, another legendary fighter, Valentina Shevchenko, regarded by many as the greatest female fighter of all time, hinted at a future showdown with Harrison after her recent title defense at UFC 322.
