Chris Eubank Jr. Drops Alarming Health Warning That May Sideline His Comeback

Chris Eubank Jr. has revealed that he has been grappling with significant health problems over the past year. Sharing a video on social media showing himself with doctors in a hospital, he admitted, “I’ve been dealing with many health issues over the last year, and last month it all finally caught up with me.” He declared he will not return to boxing until he is fully recovered, though he is uncertain when that will be. He assured his supporters that he aims to make a strong comeback someday.

Reflecting on his recent defeat against Conor Benn, Eubank Jr. said the toll of his health struggles reached a peak last month. He emphasized that his return to the ring depends on his full recovery. Despite the lack of specific medical details, he hinted that his preparation for a rematch with Benn was affected by his condition. Eubank Jr., who had won their initial fight earlier this year and reunited with his father after, was outmatched in the rematch held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Promoter Ben Shalom described Eubank Jr. as being “half the man he could have been” during the rematch, noting that he appeared to throw only 30% of his punches. Shalom suggested that both he and Eubank Jr. understand the root of these issues, which Eubank must confront eventually. After the loss, Eubank Jr. said, “I went through hell to get here, and I thought I could win despite the challenges.” He acknowledged that he is not currently mentally prepared for another fight and needs time to heal before considering his future in boxing.
