ORLANDO, Fla. — Lindsey Davenport has signed a two-year contract extension to remain the Billie Jean King Cup captain of the U.S. national team, the United States Tennis Association announced Tuesday.

Davenport led the U.S. to the team finals this year, their first appearance in the team finals since 2018. America lost to Italy.

Davenport became a captain in 2024. As a player, he helped the United States win three championships in 1996, 1999 and 2000.

She won three Grand Slam singles championships, reached No. 1 in the WTA rankings, and was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2014.

“It is an incredible honor to serve as captain of the U.S. Billie Jean Cup, and I am excited and humbled to continue serving, especially during such an exciting time for U.S. women’s tennis,” Davenport said in a statement.

This season marks the first time since 2004 that four American women have made it to the year-end top 10 rankings, with Coco Gauff in third, Amanda Anisimova in fourth, Jessica Pegula in sixth and Madison Keys in seventh.

At the time, Davenport finished in first place, joined by Serena Williams, Venus Williams, and Jennifer Capriati.

The United States will play a Billie Jean King Cup qualifying match in April.
