Erling Haaland continues to make history for Manchester City, with the Norwegian goal machine contributing to the club’s 100th Premier League goal.
With another goal in last night’s win over Fulham, Haaland now holds the record for reaching 100 Premier League goals faster than any previous player.
According to analysis by BBC Sport, Haaland has achieved a century of top-flight goals in just 111 appearances, which is quite unusual and puts him ahead of other legendary forwards such as Alan Shearer, Harry Kane and Thierry Henry.
Erling Haaland’s incredible numbers for Manchester City
See below for an example of the fastest player to reach 100 goals in the Premier League. Haaland does it more comfortably than any other all-time great…
Newcastle and England legend Shearer is currently the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer, but Haaland has reached 100 goals in 13 fewer games, suggesting he will eventually break the record if he continues to score so prolifically during his extended stay at Man City.
Please see below for detailed data. The former Borussia Dortmund man manages a very impressive feat of scoring a goal every 93 minutes…
| player | the goal | time per goal |
| erling haaland | 100 | 93 |
| sergio aguero | 184 | 108 |
| Thierry Henry | 175 | 122 |
| alexander isak | 54 | 126 |
| harry kane | 213 | 126 |
As you can see, Shearer isn’t even in the top five here, with the former Newcastle player benefiting from his longevity at the highest level.
Given that Haaland is only 25 years old, it shouldn’t be too difficult for him to continue his run for a long time and eventually overtake Shearer’s total of 260 Premier League goals.
Will Haaland be able to fire City and claim a new title?
City won the treble in Haaland’s first season as manager and won the title again in 2023/24, but fell to third place last season.
Josep Guardiola’s side currently lag behind Arsenal in this season’s title race, but Haaland’s incredible goal-scoring record will surely make them favorites.
However, one concern for City is the number of goals conceded, with Guardiola’s side having only beaten 5-4 away to Fulham and 3-2 at home to Leeds in their last two games.
This equates to six goals conceded in two league games and just one of Arsenal’s total conceded domestically all season.
But do you think City can finally catch the Gunners, as an elite striker is sure to save the day? Let us know what you think in the comments.
