West Ham United now have their sights set on welcoming Nuno Espirito Santo to their Premier League rivals in what will be his first signing for the club, according to reports.

Frankfurt ends interest in Furkrug

The January transfer window could be quite busy on all fronts for West Ham, with Nuno looking to make his mark on the team. The Hammers endured a frustrating summer transfer window and watched Graham Potter pay the price. But in less than a month, you’ll have a chance to make up for lost time.

West Ham are brewing another Potts, but he finishes like Jarrod Bowen

West Ham United could land another academy talent in Potts, who could be the next Jarrod Bowen.

That would bring in plenty of reinforcements, but it could also spell the end for a handful of active stars. One player who is likely to leave is Niklas Furkruk. The tall German has never really impressed at the London Stadium and now finds himself below Callum Wilson in the pecking order.

He desperately needs a move, but that move is not going to happen in Eintracht Frankfurt’s favor. Despite initial interest, the Bundesliga side have reportedly backed out of the race for the former Borussia Dortmund player.

Where that leaves the 32-year-old is the big question. There is reportedly still interest from Italian giants AC Milan and there is little doubt that a winter sale would be the best outcome for all parties.

In the meantime, the Hammers must look to the transfer market for reinforcements of their own. A striker should be at the top of the priority list, but it’s also worth noting that Mads Hermansen’s struggles could lead to further competition for Alphonse Areola. It may be courtesy of Jose Sa.

West Ham aim to move Jose Sa

According to Football Insider, West Ham are currently eyeing a move for SA as Nuno aims to raid his former club in 2026. The goalkeeper was recently removed by new manager Rob Edwards and was forced to watch as his replacement, Sam Johnstone, also struggled between the sticks.

Sa, who is represented by the same agent as Matheus Fernandes, is certainly not lacking in experience. The 32-year-old has been in the Premier League for the past four years and has maintained his starting place for the most part. He would be a solid option for West Ham as a substitute.

The choice between Sa and Johnston may be a little more complicated these days, but it wasn’t that long ago that Gary O’Neill praised the former, saying in 2024: “No headaches. Johnston was injured today. Jose trained really well and was great. Sam got hurt, but Jose was great and always ready. No headaches. It’s really clear where he’s going next.”

A goalkeeper’s arrival will never make the biggest headlines at the London Stadium. Oh, and that would solve Nuno’s irritating Hermansen problem.
