Jake Paul Issues Stern Warning to Conor McGregor Over ‘Risky’ Clash with Anthony Joshua: ‘It Must Be Avoided’

Jake Paul has been warned that Anthony Joshua harbors enough “darkness” within him to potentially cause serious harm. This warning comes from longtime rival UFC star Conor McGregor, who stated he would only respect Paul if he actually fights on December 19th. McGregor, a former two-division champion, has had ongoing disputes with Paul and feels this upcoming fight could be a step too far.

Paul is stepping up from the cruiserweight division to challenge Joshua, an Olympic gold medalist and two-time unified heavyweight champion. Many agree that the fight poses a significant risk to Paul, a social media star, due to Joshua’s power and skill.

McGregor told Bloody Elbow during a fan meet-up at Dublin’s Black Forge Inn that watching Joshua ringside made him acutely aware of the Briton’s devastating knockout power. While he worries for Paul, McGregor believes Netflix may be influencing Paul to take on this dangerous challenge. “If he gets that walk, I have to respect him,” McGregor said, acknowledging the severity of the situation and Joshua’s formidable presence.

McGregor first saw Joshua in action at his 2023 comeback fight against Robert Helenius, where Joshua dominated an opponent later found to be using performance-enhancing drugs. He described Joshua as a “hard-punching man” who, despite his generally positive demeanor, carries a significant inner anger and darkness.

Though McGregor feels the fight may not be in Paul’s best interest, he would respect him if he goes through with it.

Fan Take: This showdown is more than just a fight; it’s a test of Jake Paul’s ability to step into the world of elite heavyweight boxing against a seasoned champion. For fight fans, it signals a crucial moment where social media notoriety meets true professional pugilism, potentially reshaping the sport’s landscape.
