The 2025 LPGA Q Series final qualifying stage was originally scheduled to be a grueling 90-hole event. Mother Nature had other plans.

Due to bad weather on the second day of four days, the LPGA was shortened to 72 holes.

The goal is to finish by Tuesday evening, and 72 holes should get there. Whether that helps or hurts 2026 hopefuls remains to be seen.

The first round was scheduled to begin last Thursday, but was canceled due to rain and the final day was postponed to Tuesday. After rounds were played on Friday and Saturday, Sunday’s third round was suspended for 5 1/2 hours, making plans much tougher at Magnolia Grove on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Mobile, Alabama.

On Sunday afternoon, the LPGA announced:

The third round was canceled at 9:05 a.m. local time due to course conditions making it unplayable. The match resumed at 2:30pm local time. The decision has been made to reduce the LPGA Q Series Final Qualifier to a 72-hole event with the goal of completing play by the end of Tuesday, December 9th. There will be no cuts, and the top 25 players and ties at the end of play will earn LPGA Tour cards for the 2026 season.

20 athletes started in the first stage (pre-qualification) and advanced to Mobile. Among them is 17-year-old Gianna Clemente, who received a special exemption from LPGA commissioner Craig Kessler to compete this week.

Some groups teed off as late as 5:03 p.m. ET on Sunday. Helen Briem leads the way with 9 under after 36 holes.
