Atalanta star Ederson dos Santos has been linked with a move from the Italian club in recent months.
The Brazilian is nearing the end of his contract with the club and is expected to move soon.
Liverpool to keep an eye on Ederson transfer
Several Premier League clubs are monitoring his movements. Liverpool need more quality in their depth in the center of the park and believe the South American player could be a useful signing. The player’s acquisition cost could be around £40m-50m. Liverpool have the financial wherewithal to make a deal, and the South American international would be a quality investment.
He is in the prime of his career and could be an important player for them for several seasons.
The asking price is reasonable for a player in his quality market. However, Manchester City, Newcastle and Barcelona are also interested in the player. The Italian team will no doubt be hoping for a bidding war to get as much of their star midfielder back as possible.
Manager Pete O’Rourke explained to Football Insider: “Yes, he’s been linked to the Premier League for a number of years. He’s a top player, Ederson, you can’t get anything out of that.”
“I’m sure he’s probably on the list of players to look at because it looks like Liverpool need a bit of physicality and energy in their midfield and across the team.
“Manchester City are said to be interested, Newcastle are also said to be interested and Barcelona are also big fans of him.
“You could probably get him for between £40m and £50m in the current market.”
Where will Ederson end up?
It will be interesting to see where he ends up. He will aim to join a club that can compete at a high level and fight for big trophies. Liverpool have struggled this season, but they could provide him with the platform he needs. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for him to join an English club.
On the other hand, it will also be a unique opportunity for Barcelona. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world and South American players tend to prefer moving to Spain. It remains to be seen what the players will decide.
