Gulfstream Park’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Poised to Exceed $200,000 This Thursday!

A 20-cent Rainbow Six jackpot pool was anticipated to reach $200,000 on Thursday at Gulfstream Park, but the popular multi-race wager remained unresolved and will continue through a fifth day of racing on Sunday following mandatory payouts. The Rainbow 6 Series on Thursday will cover races four through nine, including a five-furlong optional claim race for Florida-bred 3-year-olds and a turf race for horses in race eight. Gabaldon, trained by Jose D’Angelo, is set to make a much-anticipated return to victory after placing a strong second behind top turf sprinters Izta Boss and Reza Rolex in his last two outings.

Gabaldon is the 8-5 favorite among the seven contenders in the morning race. He began his career last year with a win at the Royal Palm Juvenile and a runner-up finish at Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot. After a nine-month break, the Gone Astray colt returned with a third-place finish in the Texas Glitter at Gulfstream in March and a fifth in the Grade 3 Mahoney Stakes at Saratoga in August. Apprentice jockey Yorvar Torres will ride him in this comeback race.

Thursday’s highlight also includes trainer Mark Cass entering My Voodoo Doll, who finished third behind Itzabos but was only one length behind Gabaldon. My Voodoo Doll is rated second on the morning line, boasting nine wins and five losses, with Irad Ortiz Jr. as the jockey.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is paid out only when there is one unique ticket with six winning selections. If no unique tickets are sold, 70% of the day’s pool goes to the ticket with the highest winnings, and the remaining 30% rolls over into the jackpot pool.

Fan Take: This ongoing Rainbow Six jackpot excitement highlights the growing appeal of multi-race bets, which deepen fan engagement and add thrilling layers of strategy to race days. For horse racing enthusiasts, these jackpots represent not just big potential payoffs but also an opportunity to showcase their knowledge, which keeps the sport vibrant and dynamic.
