Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has put his future at Anfield in doubt after being dropped to the bench in Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

The Egyptian international has featured as a substitute in the Reds’ last three games and claims someone at the club does not want him to feature.

Salah also revealed that he told his parents to go to the match against Brighton as it was the last match before the African Cup of Nations and “you never know what could happen” during the January transfer window.

However, the situation could develop if there are any changes to the Anfield dugout in the coming days or weeks, as the Reds are reportedly considering potential replacements for Arne Slott.

Dave OCKOP says Liverpool are eyeing a manager who could take over on an interim or permanent basis if they decide to part ways with Slott.

According to Transfermarkt, the Dutch head coach has lost 10 of the 23 games he has led the club this season, with the Reds currently eighth in the Premier League with six defeats from 15 games.

The latest reports claim that Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has been approached as a potential interim replacement if Slott is sacked.

The English head coach, who previously managed Aston Villa and Rangers, is being considered for the top job at Anfield, and it would be a welcome move for Salah.

Why Mo Salah loves Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard

According to Transfermarkt, Gerrard, described by Xabi Alonso as a “true legend”, played 710 games for the club and scored 186 goals.

Without wishing to sound cliché, the 45-year-old is a manager who will arrive at Liverpool as a unifying figure who ‘gets it’ and can once again create a positive mentality at Anfield, a personality already beloved by supporters.

Salah, in particular, would be delighted if Gerrard is appointed as Slott’s replacement. Because he knows that English players respect Gerrard and think incredibly highly of him.

Earlier this year, Gerrard named Salah as the one player in history he would have liked to have played with during his playing days.

As you can see in the clip above, the Liverpool legend has also declared the Egyptian his favorite player for 2023, further proof of the respect he has for the left-footed superstar.

As you can see from the statistics above, Gerrard is not a top-level manager with a proven track record of winning a number of league titles in Europe’s major leagues, but he did have a good time at Rangers, where he was given the job of managing a dominant team.

He may not be the long-term solution in Liverpool’s dugout, who knows, but he could make a lot of sense as an interim appointment to steady the ship and repair the seemingly fractured relationship between Salah and the club.

Returning Salah, who scored 34 goals and 23 assists last season (Sofa Score), and getting him back to his best form could be a better move than the manager making tactical changes to the system, which is why Gerrard’s appointment could be a shrewd one.

Bringing in a head coach who loves the Egyptian international and wants him to be a key part of the team again could resolve the issue highlighted by Salah’s recent comments and restore a feel-good element to Anfield.

Liverpool took a two-goal lead against Leeds United at Elland Road and drew 3-3.

This would buy Liverpool time to permanently assess Gerrard’s suitability for the job, as well as give them time to consider and identify a long-term successor for Slott.
