        • Crystal Palace could sign ‘Warrior’ on £80,000-a-week contract on ‘good value’ January contract

Crystal Palace are currently considering a January move for the goal-scoring midfielder, who had a very impressive 2025 campaign.

Palace join race to sign new midfielder

Palace have been very successful in recruiting young players in recent years and Adam Wharton is one of the best examples of this, most recently assisting Eddie Nketiah’s opening goal in a 2-1 win over Fulham and helping Oliver Glasner’s side move into fourth place in the Premier League table.

However, the Eagles appear to be in a constant battle to sign their star player, with Eberechi Eze joining Arsenal in the summer, and Marc Guehi still attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Wharton is attracting interest from some of the world’s biggest clubs, with Manchester United and Liverpool also mentioned as potential candidates, meaning Glasner may have to start thinking about signing a long-term replacement before too long.

Crystal Palace have set their sights on new targets, according to a report from Football Insider, who have revealed that they are considering a January move for UCD midfielder Adam Brennan, who enjoyed an impressive 2025 campaign.

In fact, Brennan has contributed 13 goals in the Irish League First Division this season, with nine goals and four assists in 28 games, meaning a number of English clubs are lining up to sign him.

Hull City invited the 18-year-old for a trial last month, but the Tigers now have Birmingham City, Wrexham and the Eagles joining them in the battle for his exploits.

Brennan could be the talent of the future.

Despite competing in Irish football’s second highest division, it remains impressive to see how the teenager regularly found the back of the net at such a young age during the 2025 season, showing he has the potential to be a future star.

There’s another update on the Eagles’ acquisition of a defender.

However, the Irishman is yet to prove himself in the top tier and it could be some time before he is ready to test himself in the Premier League, so Palace should aim to keep Wharton around for as long as possible.

The former Blackburn Rovers man’s contract runs until 2029, which means the Eagles are in a good negotiating position and could enjoy real success this season if they can keep the core of their squad.

Palace currently qualify for the Champions League and could persuade Glasner to stay if they qualify for Europe again, with the likes of Man United and Tottenham Hotspur having previously expressed interest.

With the Austrian’s contract expiring in the summer, Palace may be best served by retaining a top player in terms of retaining a manager, but Brennan could be an astute addition to the squad long-term.
