  • Saudi Pro League clubs prepare to sign Salah
  • Has Salah already played his last game for Liverpool?

Mo Salah has terminated his contract with Liverpool after a bombshell interview following Saturday’s draw with Leeds United.

Salah, who was left on the bench for the third consecutive game, went on a shooting spree and accused the club of throwing him under the bus.

Salah said someone at the club no longer wanted him at Liverpool. He even hinted that the next game against Brighton could be his farewell appearance, as rumors of him leaving in January grow.

Following the comments, Liverpool removed Salah from their squad for their trip to Italy to face Inter Milan in the Champions League.

The decision fueled speculation that the relationship between Salah and the club had completely broken down.

Saudi Pro League clubs prepare to sign Salah

Salah’s situation has alarmed Saudi Professional League clubs who have been eyeing a move for the Egyptian star for several years.

They see Salah as the league’s future star and the ideal successor to Cristiano Ronaldo as the face of the Saudi Professional League.

Three Saudi clubs are reportedly interested in signing him: Al Hilal, NEOM FC and Al Qadosia.

In 2023, Al Ittihad attempted to sign him with Liverpool, making him a staggering offer of £150 million, but the club rejected the offer at the time.

This time, however, it appears Liverpool themselves are trying to land Salah, despite having just signed a two-year extension to his contract in April 2025.

Some believe the only reason Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes agreed to give Salah a new contract was to sell him for a hefty profit.

And now that scenario could come true. Saudi Professional League CEO Omar Mughalbel himself confirmed that Salah is welcome in the Saudi league and said he was one of his targets.

As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, he said: “Mohamed Salah is welcome in the Saudi league, but it is the clubs who are responsible for negotiating with the players.

“Certainly, Salah is one of them (targets).”

The comment came at a delicate moment for the Liverpool forward.

Salah has already said he will “say goodbye” to his fans after Liverpool’s home game against Brighton, regardless of whether he plays or not.

He is due to depart for AFCON duty immediately after the Brighton game and could be out for up to a month.

If Liverpool decide to accept the Saudi offer during that period, the forward may never play for the club again.

Unless the situation is resolved quickly, all signs point to an imminent emotional end to Mohamed Salah’s time at Anfield, and that time looks closer than ever.
