According to a new report, Arsenal have held talks with representatives of a promising forward that Bayern Munich really want to sign.
Arsenal likely to sign new forward despite summer big spend of nearly £270m
Mikel Arteta currently has a vast array of attacking options, with sporting director Andrea Berta spending around £270m on eight major signings in the summer.
The purchases also included Noni Madueke, who scored twice in last night’s Champions League match against Club Brugge, Eberechi Eze and Victor Gokeres.
With highly regarded young attacking players such as Ethan Nwaneri, Gabriel Jesus also returning from injury against Brugge, and Kai Havertz expected to return soon, the prospect of bringing in a new attacker feels almost unnecessary.
However, that hasn’t stopped reports suggesting the Gunners could be strengthened in the final third next year.
Outstanding attacker ‘signs soon’ with Arsenal, negotiations ‘in full swing’
He’s in great shape this season.
Gabriel Martinelli last night became the first player in Arsenal’s history to score in five consecutive Champions League games, but his contract expires in 2027 so Berta and Arteta need to think long-term.
The same goes for in-form winger Leandro Trossard, whose contract also expires in 2027, despite recently signing a new and improved deal that includes a well-deserved pay rise.
Juventus star Kenan Yildiz is reported to have fans at Arsenal too due to his contract situation and impressive 18 months in Turin, while other media sources claim the north Londoners are candidates to sign Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo in January.
The Ghanaian has been one of the Premier League’s standout forwards this season and is a self-proclaimed Arsenal supporter, with his attractive £65m release clause due to take effect in early January attracting a lot of interest.
Another exciting forward that Arsenal are also eyeing comes in the form of RB Leipzig sensation Yann Diomande.
According to soccer talent scout Jacek Kulig, the teenager is currently in “sensational” form for Leipzig, contributing an impressive 11 goals in his last 15 appearances.
Diomande only made his first appearance for the top club in March before joining Leipzig from Leganes last summer in a £17.5m deal.
His rise to prominence has been nothing short of impressive, with the Bundesliga side set to demand an eye-watering £88m for his signature.
Arsenal in talks with Bayern Munich’s top target Yann Diomande
That’s according to TEAMtalk and other sources who reported that the Ivorian sensation is wanted.
Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid are said to be interested in Diomande, but it is Bayern who are pushing “very hard” and are in regular talks with their entourage.
However, TT also states that Arsenal have held their own negotiations with Diomande’s camp, who continues to attract elite fans from across Europe.
Liverpool are also in a situation where they are said to be in “daily contact” as the competition to sign Africa’s newest star intensifies in the lead-up to 2026.
According to Sky Swiss reporter Sascha Tavolieri, Tottenham were in “very high-level” talks with Diomande’s camp last week, with Arsenal potentially able to seriously upset their arch-rivals such as Bayern and Liverpool.
Having said that, his huge £88m price tag will give Bertha something to think about, as he has only just arrived on the scene this calendar year and is still a completely unknown quantity of raw talent.
