Lando Norris will be officially named the F1 World Champion at the 2025 FIA Awards Ceremony, which is scheduled for Friday, December 12th, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Norris, driving for McLaren, secured his first drivers’ championship by finishing third at the season finale, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. This achievement makes Norris the 35th driver to claim the world title in Formula One’s 75-year history.

The awards event starts at 11 PM local time (6 PM UK time) and will be broadcast live for free on the FIA’s official YouTube channel. It will also be held at various times worldwide, including 7 PM CET and 1 PM ET on Saturday, December 13th.

The FIA Awards Ceremony is an annual celebration recognizing champions across all FIA motorsport disciplines, including teams, drivers, and key contributors. Norris will be presented with the prestigious Driver’s Championship Trophy, a silver and gold cup designed in 1995, which features the engraved names and signatures of all past world champions. McLaren will also receive the World Constructors’ Championship trophy for the second year running after defending their title in 2025.

This ceremony marks the end of the motorsport season and honors achievements in other categories such as the World Rally Championship and Formula E. This year’s theme, “Champion’s Dream,” highlights the dedication and sacrifice needed to reach the pinnacle of racing. Notably, only the top three F1 finishers are invited to attend—the event previously saw controversy in 2021 when Lewis Hamilton skipped the ceremony, resulting in a fine.

It also reinforces McLaren’s return as a dominant force, promising thrilling competition and renewed passion for the sport in the coming years.
