West Ham are set to sign a striker in January, with Niklas Furkruk almost certain to leave the London Stadium. A number of targets have been identified over the past few months, one of whom is currently plying his trade in the Championship.

Fullkrug’s expected departure will leave Callum Wilson the only recognized striker in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, but there has nevertheless been a long-standing desire within West Ham to solve the number nine woes. The club has struggled for years to sign the right players, but they hope to do so in 2026, potentially signing Josh Sargent.

According to GiveMeSport (via West Ham Zone), West Ham are keen to sign Sargent in January, with Norwich prepared to sell him for a fee of around £17.5 million. The Hammers want to sign a physically fit striker with experience in English football, and the American international would fit the bill.

Sargent, who joined Norwich from Werder Bremen in 2021, has enjoyed a relatively good form at Carrow Road, scoring 55 goals in 154 appearances in all competitions. This season he has scored seven times, six of them in the Championship.

Could Josh Sargent be the answer to West Ham’s striker woes?

Sargent will no doubt welcome a return to the Premier League, where he also has experience with Norwich. However, he has not been at his best and could be a cause for concern for West Ham, who ultimately need to find a solution in attack.

It remains to be seen who West Ham will target, but there will undoubtedly be a sense of desperation in their pursuit – something they cannot afford given their struggles in recent years.
