  • Real Madrid is one of the clubs tracking Dalot
  • Manchester United could consider selling defender

According to TEAMtalk, Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot, with the Spanish giants seeing the Portuguese international as a potential long-term addition to their backline.

Despite the club signing Trent Alexander-Arnold last summer, manager Xabi Alonso is said to be looking for more depth at right-back, especially with veteran Dani Carvajal nearing the twilight of his career.

Dalot, 26, was Man United’s most consistent performer under manager Ruben Amorim, impressing with his attacking as well as defensive abilities.

Dalot’s versatility, as he can play as either a right-back or a left-back, makes him a valuable asset for the Red Devils.

However, his performances have also attracted the attention of Europe’s elite, with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich reportedly monitoring his situation closely.

According to TEAMtalk, Real Madrid’s scouting department has been following Dalot since his outstanding performances at international level with Portugal.

The La Liga giants see him as an immediate replacement for Carvajal, who will turn 34 next year, and a reliable rotation option for Alexander-Arnold in a system that requires great physical strength and technical precision from full-backs.

There appears to be growing uncertainty about Dalot’s long-term future at Old Trafford.

United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, is said to be open to considering an offer for Dalot, although his contract runs until 2028, with the club also holding the option for a further year.

United are not actively considering a sale, but their new recruitment model under INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe has prioritized squad refreshment and financial balance.

The Red Devils could be tempted to negotiate if a significant offer arrives from Madrid or elsewhere.

Real Madrid are not the only club considering a move. Atletico Madrid are also keen, with manager Diego Simeone reportedly believing Dalot would be a perfect fit for his system, which emphasizes defensively solid yet tactically flexible full-backs.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are interested in him as part of their defensive reinforcements.

However, the appeal of Real Madrid, combined with the chance to work under Alonso and regularly compete for silver, would likely favor Los Blancos if they were to sign Dalot.
