In a dramatic NBA showdown, the Los Angeles Lakers emerged victorious in a chaotic finish against the Phoenix Suns. With under eight minutes remaining, the Lakers held a commanding 20-point lead, but the Suns rallied fiercely, seizing a lead with just over 12 seconds left. Dillon Brooks nailed a go-ahead three-pointer but was ejected immediately for colliding with LeBron James. Despite James missing the ensuing free throw, the Lakers clinched the win 116-114.

The match was tied at 62-62 early in the third quarter before the Lakers went on a 24-0 run, culminating in a three-pointer by James, giving them a 95-77 advantage with 9:30 to go. Leading comfortably at 99-79 just over eight minutes left, the Lakers seemed poised to close it out. However, the Suns’ persistence paid off as Brooks’ three-pointer gave them a 114-113 edge in the final seconds.

Controversy arose when James appeared to foul Brooks on a follow-through, which went uncalled. Brooks, with a known history involving James, reacted by punching James, earning a technical foul and ejection after a replay review. James missed the technical free throw, keeping the Suns ahead by one.

Later, James was fouled by Devin Booker on a three-point attempt, a call upheld despite protests by the Suns. James made two of three free throws, putting the Lakers ahead 115-114 with just three seconds remaining. The Suns’ final attempt missed, and the Lakers secured the win after a late foul.

Postgame, Lakers coach JJ Redick revealed a mix-up about who would take a critical free throw, with Luka Doncic being the designated shooter but James ultimately taking the shot. James acknowledged the confusion but defended his decision and contributed 26 points with multiple assists and defensive stats. Doncic added 29 points, and despite Brooks’ 18 points and Booker’s 27 points for the Suns, the Lakers’ resilience earned them the victory on Phoenix’s court.
