Liverpool defeated Brighton at the weekend, but the biggest talking point was Mohamed Salah’s return to the team. He has missed three of the last four games due to a falling out with Arne Slott, but that issue appeared to be resolved.

By Salah’s standards, this season has been a struggle, with just five goals and four assists in 20 appearances in all competitions. However, he showed signs of regaining his form on Saturday, coming on as a substitute in the first half for the injured Joe Gomez and playing the whole match against Brighton.

Micah Richards has praised Salah’s performance, and while speaking on The Rest Is Football, the former Man City defender admitted he was impressed with the Egyptian’s sharpness.

“The most important thing is that he looked sharp when he came on. He should have scored. But the bigger picture is that there were question marks over whether he still had that electric pace, and he did in fact Maybe he’s not as consistent as he was in previous seasons, but from a football standpoint, I was like, ‘Salah looks very sharp here. We could have seen a little bit more of this during the season.’

“He’s not going to go there and have a bad time, right? He’s going to run around. He’s going to be fine. I never doubted it. I just think he was going through a period where he couldn’t score. Mo Salah makes your team better. He was going through a period of ball, it’s over.”

How important is Mohamed Salah to Liverpool?

It’s certainly not been an easy season for Salah, but the same can be said for Liverpool as a whole. If they can turn things around, they can still recover, and having No. 11 involved will certainly improve their chances of success.
