Yorkton Heads Back to Ontario, Settling at Adena Springs Starting 2026

Yorkton, a multiple Grade 3 race winner, is set to stand at Adena Springs in Aurora, Ontario for the 2026 breeding season with advertising fees of C$5,000. The 11-year-old stallion, by Speightstown, previously stood at Crestwood Farm in Lexington, Kentucky, where he began his stud career in 2021.

This move represents a homecoming for Yorkton, who was born in Ontario and raced as a homebred for Chiefswood Stables Ltd. Yorkton spent much of his racing career at Woodbine, capturing two Grade 3 Bold Venture Stakes and three other non-weighted races as a three-year-old: the Charlie Burley Stakes, King Collie Stakes, and Queenston Stakes. In the U.S., his notable performances included placing in the Grade 2 True North Stakes at Belmont Park and the Sasha Creighton Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

As a sire, Yorkton has produced 14 winners from his first two crops, with his progeny earning over $1 million collectively. Among them is the 2-year-old Piper’s Gift, who has taken the listed Glorious Song Stakes and Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Woodbine. Additionally, Wagstaff secured a third-place finish in the Grade 3 Ontario Derby at Woodbine this year.

Yorkton is out of Sunday Affair, an unraced mare by AP Indy who has produced six winners from seven runners, including Grade 3 winner Weyburn and stakes winner Nipigon. Sunday Affair’s third dam is multiple Grade 1 winner Maple Zinski. Yorkton shares bloodlines with notable champions such as Sky Beauty, Day Jour, and Grade 1 winners Guarana, Pine Island, Pleasant Home, Point of Entry, Tale of Ekati, and Violence.

Fan Take: Yorkton’s return to Ontario is a significant moment for Canadian horse racing, bringing a proven and talented stallion back to the local breeding program. His strong pedigree and success as both a racer and sire hold great promise for raising the profile and quality of Canadian-bred racehorses in the coming years.
