Everton are now reported to have joined the race for the Premier League ace, who is aiming to leave his current club as soon as the January transfer window opens.

Everton in race to sign Jack Grealish again

Everton finally got things going on the transfer front in the summer transfer window. After years of failed transfers, the likes of Keenan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish have improved since joining David Moyes’ team and ended that curse.

Grealish has particularly impressed, returning to his best following his long-awaited loan move from Manchester City. It is a golden rule to never fall in love with a loanee, but the England international seems to respect the Merseyside players as much as they adore him.

He is enjoying an impressive season.

He recently told reporters: “I always have a connection with the fans of every club, and I have an incredible connection with the Everton fans.

“I talked a lot over the summer on FaceTime with the coach and it felt like a good fit. He’s helped me get back to my level. I’m having fun playing and training. It’s a perfect fit.”

It’s no surprise, then, that the Friedkin Group are looking to replicate that genius by signing more of the star players who are already competing at the top of the Premier League.

Ahead of the January transfer window, the Toffees have already been linked with a move for Chelsea’s Tyrik George. The young forward has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge this season and Everton could make the most of that advantage.

But he is not the only young star on the shortlist. Everton have joined the race to sign Koby Mainu on loan from Manchester United next month, according to Il Mattino, relayed by CN24 and Sport Witness. The Carrington graduate is hoping to secure a loan move from Old Trafford and the Merseyside club could offer him just that.

Everton should do everything in their power to sign Maynou.

Since the arrival of Rubem Amorim, it has been a tumultuous time for the Mainu people. The player, who was highly rated by Erik ten Hag and scored the FA Cup winning goal against rivals Manchester City, was only a disappointing replacement under the former Sporting CP manager.

Amorim has denied Mainu the chance to leave on loan in the summer, telling the 20-year-old he will only compete for his place, but he has yet to give the academy graduate the chance to score a winning goal.

But Amorim’s rubbish could quickly become David Moyes’ treasure, especially if Mainu returns to his best form. It was in 2024 that Paul Scholes compared the Man United player to the great Zinedine Zidane and Rasmus Hjølund described him as “a generational”. Now, Everton could pull off an incredible coup in January for a player who was once worth £79m last September.
