Arman Tsarukyan Seeks to Win Back Dana White’s Favor with Key Role at UFC 324

Arman Tsarukyan, having missed another chance at the UFC lightweight championship, is now focused on regaining favor with Dana White. Just over a month from now at UFC 324, the interim lightweight title bout will feature Paddy Pimblett against Justin Gaethje. This news surprised many not only because Ilya Topria will be stepping away from competition but also because Tsarukyan wasn’t included in the title fight once again. Since missing the UFC 311 main event against Islam Makhachev, Tsarukyan, nicknamed ‘Ahal Karaketz,’ has faced setbacks and fallen out of favor with UFC president Dana White.

Despite showcasing his skills with a submission win over Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar after his last pay-per-view in 2025, White still believes Tsarukyan needs to improve before he can fight for the title. To stay active, Tsarukyan is taking part in grappling competitions and is set to face Abdulaziz Abdulvahabov on December 17th. In a recent pre-event press conference, Tsarukyan discussed his commitment to staying ready as a backup fighter for the Pimblett vs. Gaethje match. He emphasized his readiness to step in on short notice if needed and his dedication to training hard without risking injury. He plans to rest only after that bout but understands the tough path ahead and the importance of constant preparation.

Tsarukyan has also admitted that his withdrawal from UFC 311 was related to weight issues, a challenge that could have affected his standing with the UFC. Serving as a backup in the upcoming UFC 324 won’t guarantee him a title shot but could help mend his relationship with Dana White, especially given White’s recent comments on the matter.

Fan Take: This update is significant for fight fans as it highlights the persistence and resilience required to stay relevant in the UFC’s competitive landscape. Tsarukyan’s journey underscores how critical readiness and personal discipline are for athletes aspiring to the highest levels, potentially reshaping future lightweight title challengers.
