Jake Paul Fires Back at Deontay Wilder, Asserts Anthony Joshua Bout Is ‘Scripted’

Jake Paul is threatening legal action following Deontay Wilder’s unproven suggestion that the upcoming superfight this Friday might have been “scripted” or manipulated in some way. Claims that Paul’s fights are somehow altered have surfaced repeatedly, but none have caused as much controversy as the forthcoming Netflix-broadcast bout against Anthony Joshua at Miami’s Caseya Center.

The matchup is perceived as heavily one-sided, with many expecting an easy knockout by Joshua. Accusations of match-fixing are serious federal offenses, prompting Paul to hire top lawyers to address these damaging allegations.

During their final press conference before the fight, Paul dropped his respectful demeanor and openly criticized Wilder, who had expressed doubts about the legitimacy of the fight during a trip to Dubai. Paul dismissed these accusations firmly, stating he would issue cease-and-desist orders followed by lawsuits due to the persistence of what he calls unfounded lies.

Paul said, “I honestly take it as a compliment, but I want people to shut up. Deontay Wilder has lost repeatedly to Tyson Fury and clearly isn’t the smartest guy. There’s nothing in the contract, and no proof AJ can provide that this fight won’t be a real battle. All my fights have been legitimate.”

Joshua also weighed in briefly, affirming that the fight is fully legal and that nothing in their contract prevents him from aiming for a decisive victory against Paul.

Fan Take: This controversy highlights the heightened scrutiny boxing faces as crossover stars like Jake Paul enter the sport, challenging traditional perceptions. For fight fans, the outcome of this bout—and how these accusations are handled—could influence boxing’s credibility and future appeal to broader audiences.
