Samson Nacua, brother of Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, and another individual were arrested on Saturday for allegedly stealing a car belonging to Los Angeles Lakers forward Adu Tierro, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The incident occurred at the One Hotel in West Hollywood, where deputies responded after Tierro’s car was spotted at the hotel. Reports indicate that Nacua and Trey Rhodes, both aged 27, were found inside the hotel with a valet in the stolen vehicle. Security footage helped identify and locate the suspects, leading to their arrest on suspicion of vehicle theft. They were released later that night as the investigation continued.

Samson Nacua played college football at BYU alongside his brother and signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022 after going undrafted. After his release by the Colts, he played two games for the USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers and later joined the Michigan Panthers in the UFL, also spending time with the New Orleans Saints during the 2024 preseason. Nacua had a one-game suspension last year after punching a fan following a regular-season loss. Adu Tierro, 21, was the 36th overall pick in the NBA Draft this year and has participated in nine games for the Lakers this season.

Meanwhile, Puka Nacua has emerged as one of the NFL’s top receivers, boasting 102 receptions for 1,367 yards and six touchdowns this season. However, he also drew attention recently due to controversial moments during a livestream appearance.

Fan Take: This story highlights how off-court incidents can impact athletes and their families, reminding basketball fans that personal conduct plays a crucial role in the sport’s reputation. Adu Tierro’s rise combined with these events could bring increased scrutiny to athletes’ lives outside the game, influencing how teams and leagues manage player behavior going forward.
