  • Liverpool are considering signing a new wide attacker
  • The Reds spent a lot of money on offensive players.

Liverpool’s reinforcement plans are starting to take shape as they aim to strengthen their attacking options ahead of a crucial rebuilding phase.

With Kodi Gakpo currently taking on more responsibility up front and Mohamed Salah’s long-term future becoming increasingly uncertain, the Reds are actively exploring the market for a new attacker who could either be an immediate force or ultimately replace the Egyptian icon.

Liverpool’s current campaign has not reached the heights of last season, but there is a growing feeling inside Anfield that they have the foundations of a strong team.

Liverpool are considering signing a new wide attacker

The focus now is on adding elite-quality offensive depth to get the team back into consistent title contention.

One name that has dominated the headlines in recent weeks is Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, but competition for his signature is fierce, with multiple Premier League giants vying for his signature.

If Liverpool miss out on Semenho, attention could turn to Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool are one of the clubs keeping a close eye on the Spain international and have already made preliminary contact to assess his availability.

Williams is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most explosive wide players and is reportedly confident of delivering an impressive World Cup that further cements his reputation on the world stage.

The Spanish attacker has made 16 appearances for the Spanish club so far this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

Williams’ appeal is clear. Blessed with incredible speed, elite dribbling ability and a fearless approach in one-on-one situations, he provides the kind of dynamism that Liverpool have traditionally deployed in wide attacking positions.

However, financial aspects are an important consideration in any transaction. Williams’ release clause is worth around 95 million euros (about 83 million pounds), but opinions differ on this figure.

Liverpool have shown they are willing to spend big on transformative talent, following in the footsteps of new-age hopefuls such as Alexander Isak and Florian Wertz, but paying Williams this much would be a significant gamble.

Semenyo presents a more realistic option. The Bournemouth forward, who can be signed for £65 million in January, already has proven Premier League experience and has proven his ability to cope with the physical and tactical demands of English football.

The Reds continue to plan for a future that doesn’t necessarily involve Salah, but this decision could shape the next stage in the evolution of their attack.
