Getting swing advice from a golf buddy is a lot like getting medical advice from a barber. Although well-intentioned, it serves little purpose.

There’s no shortage of great golf tips from top instructors, but knowing which tips to ignore can be just as important as knowing which ones to follow.

To cut through the noise, we went straight to the source. More than 100 of the best coaches in the game gathered at Cabot Citrus Farm last week for Golf Magazine’s annual Teaching Summit.

And luckily for us, our own Claire Rogers was on the scene asking questions about what everyday golfers actually care about: What’s the worst golf advice you’ve heard from a golf instructor on the range?

1. “You have reached the peak of what you are. Most people do not know what they are beyond the peak of.” – Jason Bale

2. “Keep your head down, hold tight like a baby bird, and swing slowly.” – Maureen Farrell

3. “Please bow your head” – steph shaw

5. “Keep your head down, shoot down, slow down. If that’s the advice you’re getting, that’s why you’re not getting better.” – jake tower
