Marc Márquez is making progress in his recovery from a shoulder injury sustained in Mandalica and has confirmed that he will soon return to motorcycling. The nine-time world champion clinched the 2025 MotoGP title in his first year with Ducati’s factory team, though he was bested by Marco Bezzecchi in Indonesia.

Initially diagnosed with a coracoid fracture and ligament damage, Márquez hoped to avoid surgery, but when his shoulder did not heal naturally, he had to undergo an operation. This injury caused him to miss the last four races of the season and the post-race test in Valencia.

Recently, Márquez shared a photo of himself mountain biking for the first time post-surgery and outlined the next steps in his rehabilitation. Having received the Heart of Spain award at the 20th COE Gala in Madrid, he noted that his fracture is nearly healed and said, “Starting next week, I will begin getting used to the throttle again.”

He is expected to return to riding MotoGP bikes at the opening test for the 2026 season in Sepang, scheduled for early February. Meanwhile, Ducati has unveiled a limited edition Panigale V4 replica celebrating Márquez’s 2025 MotoGP championship victory.

Fan Take: Márquez’s recovery and imminent return are thrilling news for MotoGP fans, signaling the return of one of the sport’s fiercest competitors. His comeback could reignite intense rivalries and push the level of competition even higher in the upcoming season.
