  • Alexander Isaac is struggling
  • It seems unlikely that Isaac will leave.

Alexander Isak has been criticized since his big-money move to Liverpool, but is now being backed to ensure his departure.

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has weighed in on the Swedish striker’s situation. Liverpool paid around £130m to sign the player on deadline day, but he has failed to live up to expectations.

Alexander Isaac is struggling

He is still struggling to adapt to the game after missing the entire pre-season due to a disagreement at Newcastle. The player has been lackluster this season, comfortably losing out to Hugo Ekitike.

Hamann now claims that Liverpool could discuss a possible sale at the end of the season if the Sweden international fails to deliver by March or April. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop.

He said (h/t The Mag): “If things don’t improve for Alexander Isak in March or April, then Liverpool will probably have talks to sell him to a club like Barcelona in the summer. There will be plenty of suitors for Alexander Isak, because he’s shown what he’s capable of at Newcastle United.”

Isak is an exceptional player and he has proven that in the Premier League. Form-wise, he is the best striker in the Premier League. Liverpool will have to be patient with him.

The Sweden international has clearly struggled since missing pre-season, but will likely be able to regain his form and confidence in the coming weeks. If he can reach his top form, he could transform Liverpool’s attack. The technically gifted attacker can function anywhere in the front three and could be a real asset to the club.

It seems highly unlikely that Liverpool will allow him to leave on a club-record contract after just a few months at the club. The former Liverpool midfielder’s comments are mere speculation and it will be difficult for any club to secure his availability right away.

Hamann believes a club like Barcelona could be a potential destination for Isak. However, the Spanish side are facing financial limitations and it seems unlikely that they will be able to persuade Liverpool with a suitable offer.
