Lexi Hull of Fever Delivers a Powerful Message About Her ‘Ultimate Teammate’

Indiana Fever player Lexi Hull experienced firsthand how Kelsey Mitchell took charge of the team after Caitlin Clark was sidelined with an injury during the 2025 season. Clark participated in only 13 games due to a groin injury, prompting Mitchell to carry much of Indiana’s offensive responsibility by playing in all 44 regular-season games, averaging 20.2 points per game with a 45.6% shooting accuracy.

With Mitchell leading, the Fever secured a 24-20 record, ranked sixth in the WNBA, and surpassed expectations by advancing to the semifinals. Unfortunately, in Game 5 of the semifinals against the Las Vegas Aces, the 30-year-old veteran had to exit due to rhabdomyolysis, a severe muscle condition, showing the physical toll she endured for the team.

Lexi Hull expressed deep respect and admiration for Mitchell’s dedication, praising her as the “ultimate teammate” at media day. Hull highlighted Mitchell’s relentless effort, leadership, and long-term commitment to the Fever franchise, acknowledging the sacrifices she made for the team’s success.

Although Mitchell would have preferred to finish the season uninjured, Hull remains proud of her achievements. Both Hull and Mitchell are set to compete in the upcoming Unrivaled tournament starting January 5th—Hull returning to Rose BC, and Mitchell joining Hibs BC for her first season in the 3v3 event. While they won’t be teammates this time, both aim to make an impact similar to their WNBA performances.

Fan Take: Kelsey Mitchell’s resilience and leadership throughout the 2025 season are a testament to her exceptional character and skill, making this story a powerful example of dedication in women’s basketball. For WNBA fans, her sacrifice highlights the intense physical demands of the sport and sets a high bar for commitment that elevates the league’s competitiveness and inspires the next generation of players.
